About the Role

Metis Technology Solutions, Inc. seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to support Aeronautics Programs and Projects at NASA Ames Research Center. The Smart Mobility (SM) project enables aeronautics research involving uncrewed vehicle flight and collaborates with NASA Ames Aviation Operations Management (Code JO). SM assists with flight operations, airworthiness and flight readiness reviews, mission management, infrastructure integration, and serves as a focal point for external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support NASA mission objectives by designing, developing, testing, and evaluating systems, equipment, and aircraft.
  • Perform analysis on performance requirements with considerations for safety and reliability.
  • Investigate phenomena during testing and analyze unfamiliar data.
  • Execute multiple engineering functions: planning, design, testing, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, industry, and FAA representatives.
  • Conduct special studies for NASA programs and partners.
  • Payload integration: prepare documentation, reports, and analysis.
  • Draft payload integration manuals with SME input.
  • Design and manufacture UAS support structures.
  • Structure and assess data; review and draft pre-flight checklists.
  • Support flight operations and documentation.
  • Integrate and document camera payloads.
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Systems Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of Systems Engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and system-level responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of flight/aerospace simulation and test environments.
  • Experience in engineering and software development.
  • Background in software development.
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Experience producing design products, analyses, and deliverables.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and budgeting skills.

Must be a US Citizen
