System Engineer / Administrator

Purpose of the role

Support and maintain the system infrastructure for the terminals.

Work with Regional and Global teams to execute on the modernization, standardization, and security agenda of the networking infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Server Management:
    • Administer and maintain Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments.
    • Install, configure, and manage server hardware and software.
    • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect data and infrastructure.
    • Ensure systems are compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Provide technical support for server-related issues and incidents.
    • Resolve system outages and performance problems in a timely manner.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data.
    • Conduct regular backups and recovery tests.
  • User Account Management:
    • Create, manage, and revoke user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and changes.
    • Generate regular reports on system performance and usage.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with IT teams and end-users to understand requirements and provide solutions.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects.

Technical Skillset

  • Thorough understanding of operational systems and their critical role in application functionality.
  • Thorough knowledge of patching, backup, and recovery standards and requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of cyber security standards and practices, experience with high availability requirements both on a physical and virtual level, including web farms.
  • Familiarity with automation applications preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study
  • Relevant certifications:
    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator (e.g., MCSA: Windows Server 2016/2019).
    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).

Soft Skillsets

  • Strong communication skills, experience with executive level updates, logical complex problem solving, ability to collaborate cross-functionally, self-driven, able to multitask multiple projects, can lead a database related incident call focusing on restoring services first while being careful to not lose critical logs during restores and providing timely updates to stakeholders. Willingness to be available and jump in when incidents happen and restoration is business critical.

Experience

  • Over 8+ years of Total IT Experience with windows administration and VMWare administration
  • Managing and understanding of ESC/ESXI, Veeam Backup and Replication
  • Experience in cloning and creating templates from VMs, snapshot and using vSphere features like vMotion, Storage vMotion, DRS and HA
  • Expertise in Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, WSUS and Active Directory Services
  • Experience with VMWare ESX/ESXI technologies, expertise with HA/DRS
  • Experience with Cisco Hyperflex/Hyperconverged solutions
