A healthcare company in Virginia is currently seeking a new Systems Engineer for a promising opportunity with their growing team. In this role, the Systems Engineer will be accountable for constructing, evaluating, and delivering financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible business decisions to support cost-effective and secure technology infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud with a focus on automation, sustainability, improvement, and best practice standards

Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer will:



  • Interpreting policies and providing technical recommendations and guidance for future programs, projects, and growth strategies

  • Designing and administering infrastructure solutions leveraging various virtualization and storage technologies

  • Developing operational procedures to ensure duties and tasks are implemented

  • Supporting and enhancing existing unified collaboration platform built on a hybrid Azure AD/Office 365 and on-premises Active Directory environment

  • Deploying, engineering, and optimizing enterprise class and technology-based systems

  • Providing recommendations for improvements, evaluating alternate configurations, and developing concepts for modifications and future systems

  • Designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining various Azure Cloud Services such as Azure AD DS, Teams, Intune, AD Connect, and Microsoft 365

  • Contributing to data backup, retention, and recovery practices and procedures for both on-premises and cloud hosted platforms including Windows and Linux

  • Performing as a subject matter expert on specific assigned technologies and escalation point to provide tier 3 technical support for the team

  • Performing other duties as assigned


Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of IT experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, and/or a related field or applicable training certificate issued in accordance with guidelines provided by software vendor (e.g., Microsoft MCITP/MCSE) from an accredited training institution

  • Skilled in applying systems design, development, installation, operations, maintenance concepts, methods, and procedures

  • Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks

  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals

  • Excellent technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, including TCP/IP, internet, and routing

  • Expert design knowledge of on-premises Data Center technologies with focuses including Virtualization, SAN, NAS, Microsoft Server, Linux Server, Fiber, and Ethernet technologies

  • Solid cloud experience, preferably Azure

  • Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Splunk)

  • Strong understanding of the installation, configuration, and management of Windows/Linux systems

  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills

  • Great interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Highly organized


Desired Skills:



  • Experience with Pure/NetApp

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure AD, Enterprise Apps

  • Working knowledge of Office 365 - Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint

  • Experience with CentOS/RHEL v6/7/8

  • Advanced level and usage of scripting (PowerShell and/or Bash) for automation and problem resolution
