Purpose:

The Systems Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s information technology strategy, infrastructure, and enterprise systems to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient operations. This role oversees IT operations, manages technical staff and vendors, and drives continuous improvement of business systems, including SAP, to support organizational goals and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and manage the organization’s IT infrastructure, systems, and services
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations including network, servers, cloud environments, cybersecurity, and help desk support
  • Lead administration, optimization, and support of SAP and other enterprise applications
  • Manage SAP upgrades, integrations, enhancements, and user support in collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Develop and execute IT strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure data integrity, system security, backups, and disaster recovery planning
  • Manage IT budgets, hardware/software procurement, and vendor relationships
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate IT staff and external consultants
  • Lead system implementations, migrations, and technology projects
  • Analyze business needs and recommend technology solutions to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Monitor system performance and resolve issues to minimize downtime
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements
  • Provide training and technical guidance to end users and department leaders
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or management responsibilities
  • Hands-on experience managing enterprise systems and infrastructure
  • Direct experience supporting and administering SAP environments
  • SAP system administration, configuration, and support (ECC, S/4HANA, or related modules preferred)
  • Network and server management (Windows/Linux environments)
  • Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar)
  • Cybersecurity best practices and risk management
  • Database management and reporting tools
  • IT service management tools and help desk systems
  • Project management methodologies
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability

Preferred

  • SAP certifications or implementation experience
  • ITIL, PMP, or related certifications
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or similar ERP-driven environments

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Occasional standing, walking, and lifting equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to install or troubleshoot hardware in office or server room environments
  • May require after-hours or on-call support for system maintenance or emergencies
