1. Overview:
The Tandoor Commi 1 is responsible for preparing and cooking various dishes in the tandoor oven, maintaining the oven's performance, and contributing to the overall kitchen operations.
2. Key Responsibilities:
Operating and maintaining the tandoor oven to ensure optimal performance
Baking naan, roti, and other flatbreads
Preparing marinations and seasoning for meats
Preparing and grilling tandoori chicken
Grilling kebabs and other skewers
Managing the temperature of the tandoor oven
Handling hot surfaces safely and effectively
Using charcoal efficiently and maintaining cleanliness
Rotating food regularly for even cooking
Cleaning and seasoning the tandoor oven
Roasting vegetables in the tandoor
Preparing dough for flatbreads
Managing kitchen waste
Using garnishes and presentation techniques to enhance dish presentation
3. Technical Skills:
Proven ability to operate a tandoor oven
Expertise in baking naan, roti, and flatbreads
Knowledge of traditional tandoori cooking techniques
Understanding of temperature control and heat management
Experience in handling hot surfaces and working with charcoal
Familiarity with skewering and grilling techniques
4. Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience as a Tandoor Commi or in a similar role
ServSafe Food Handler Certification
5. Skills & Experience:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for Indian cuisine and traditional cooking techniques
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing demands
