A Senior Tax Associate performs most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. Often leads a number of Tax Staff Associates, instructs them in work to be performed, reviews the work done, and directs necessary revisions. The position requires technical, client service, supervision, marketing, and administrative skills. The duties of a Tax Senior are similar in nature of those of an in-charge tax accountant, but they cover a broader area. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists with payroll, BOE or county property tax audits
- Is available to assist staff, be a resource to provide informal training & support
- Understands BNA depreciation program
- Analyzes and drafts responses to IRS & FTB notices
- Assists with IRS & FTB audits
- Assists QB clients with setup and/or cleanup of data
- Understands & posts payroll liabilities & wage base adjustments as needed
- Sets up new payroll items when needed
- Has client contact as a QB support person
- Lacerte technical knowledge base should include:
- o Like Kind Exchanges
- o First or final year tax returns, including wind-up strategies with Secretary of State
- o Complex fiduciary returns and CRT returns, interpretation & implementation of trust provisions
- Tax planning, including multiple scenarios or multiple years
- Understands entity tax bases and how that impacts tax returns, projections and consulting engagements
- Becomes aware of workloads and budgets. Begins to proactively set schedule and organize work
- Communicates budget & priorities with partners/managers
- Begins to identify separately billable time and discuss with managers/partners
- Participates in tax department meetings/discussions
- Assists with formal trainings for tax department
- Begins to take charge of client relationship and be primary contact for client
- Lacerte knowledge base should tax return types including:
- o Exempt organization tax returns
- o Gift or estate tax returns
- o Multi-State tax returns
- Works with partners/managers to prepare schedules related to proposed transactions
- Performs tax research related to proposed transactions
- Participates in client meetings related to tax planning or proposed transactions
- Begins to participate in client meetings related to estate planning
- Becomes accountable for working within budget constraints
- Becomes accountable for separately billable time and input in practice appropriately
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Education:
- Bachelor's (Required)
Experience:
- Tax experience: 3 years (Required)
- Bank reconciliation: 3 years (Required)
