Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Manager to oversee our company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities. The Tax Manager will play a critical role in managing tax risks, optimizing tax strategies, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. This position requires strong technical expertise in tax planning and accounting, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external advisors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities while maintaining compliance with tax laws and regulations. Provide proactive tax advice on business transactions, investments, and corporate restructuring initiatives.

  2. Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns, including federal, state, and local taxes. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and adapt tax strategies accordingly.

  3. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Manage the tax provision process and prepare tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Analyze tax implications of financial transactions and provide guidance on accounting for income taxes (ASC 740).

  4. Tax Audits and Controversy: Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities. Prepare responses to tax notices, coordinate with external auditors, and resolve tax issues effectively. Develop strategies to minimize tax audit risks and exposures.

  5. Transfer Pricing and International Taxation: Ensure compliance with transfer pricing rules and regulations. Manage international tax matters, including foreign tax credits, withholding taxes, and tax treaties. Coordinate with global subsidiaries on tax planning and compliance issues.

  6. Tax Research and Advisory: Conduct research on complex tax issues, interpretations, and regulations. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and industry trends. Provide guidance and recommendations to senior management on tax implications of business decisions.

  7. Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor tax staff, including tax accountants and specialists. Oversee their work, provide training and professional development opportunities, and ensure high-quality tax deliverables.

  8. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate tax strategies, risks, and opportunities to senior management, finance teams, and external stakeholders. Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to integrate tax considerations into business planning and decision-making.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. CPA certification is required; Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or similar is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate taxation, including tax planning, compliance, and financial reporting. Experience in public accounting or corporate tax department preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations. Familiarity with ASC 740 and transfer pricing principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to business operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly and effectively to non-tax professionals.
  • Leadership qualities with experience in managing a team, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Thomson Reuters, Wolters Kluwer), ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.

Compensation:

  • Performance-based bonuses and incentives may range from 10% to 25% of base salary, based on individual and company performance metrics.
