What You'll Do:

  • Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of Teacher Education
  • Provides instruction in arts and in-dividual assistance
  • Assesses educational needs of students
  • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
  • Provides instruction and individual assistance
  • Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
  • Maintains discipline and/or security
  • Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
  • Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
  • Researches, selects and recommends new teaching materials
  • Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • This position does require travel and work at London Correctional and Corrections Reception Center

Current Teacher Certificate appropriate for arts & crafts & grade level to be assigned; Teacher 1, 71121, must also have baccalaureate degree or less;

Knowledge of teacher education designed for arts & crafts & assigned grade level; departmental policies & procedures concerning operations of educational program to include those for discipline &/or security*. Skill in arts & crafts & operating equipment associated with arts & crafts & audio-visual equipment. Ability to assess educational needs of students & develop appropriate lesson plans & individualized assistance; prepare & maintain accurate & concise reports & records; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; establish good rapport with students & work cooperatively with other facility staff members.
