Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of teacher education:
- Provides instruction in basic fundamental of building maintenance (e.g., plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, roofing, drywall repair) and individual assistance.
- Assesses educational needs of inmates.
- Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training.
- Provides instruction and individual assistance.
- Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators.
- Maintains discipline and/or security.
- Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress).
- Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed.
- Researches, selects and recommends new teaching materials.
- Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development, performs other duties as assigned.

Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - building maintenance & grade level as assigned*; Teacher 1, 71361, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement. NOTE: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana.
