Job Description
Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A paraprofessional role is available to support students with moderate to severe behavioral or autism-related needs during an Extended School Year (ESY) program in the Lansdale, PA area. This contract position operates through a regional educational service office and provides critical in-class support to enhance student learning and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering educational and behavioral interventions, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques.
- Support students exhibiting challenging behaviors such as hitting, spitting, biting, and eloping, utilizing de-escalation strategies.
- Perform duties that may include some lifting, toileting, and diapering as required by student needs.
- Collaborate with educational staff to promote a safe and positive classroom environment.
- Participate in an orientation session prior to instructional dates to prepare for classroom assignments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience working as a paraprofessional with students who have moderate to severe behavioral or autism-related needs.
- Must meet one of the Pennsylvania paraprofessional qualifications: 48 college credits, associate degree or higher, Credential of Competency, or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- If not currently qualified, completion of a seven-module certification and credential application within 60 days of hire is required.
- Reliable transportation and residency within a 35-minute commute of the assigned school location.
- Ability to commit fully to the ESY schedule (Monday through Thursday, 8:45am2:45pm, June 29 to July 30, 2026).
Locations include multiple schools within a reasonable distance of Lansdale, PA. Assignments are based on student needs and may vary from initial preferences. Orientation sessions occur June 24 and 25, 2026.
