Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License with a Visual Impairment endorsement (or eligibility)
- Experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in educational settings
- Proficiency in teaching Braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Creativity and flexibility in adapting materials and methodologies
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster student progress
- Design and modify learning materials for accessibility, including Braille, large print, or auditory formats
- Support students in using assistive technology and adaptive devices
- Advocate for environmental modifications to ensure safe and equitable access throughout school settings
- Document progress and maintain relevant student records
