Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience teaching in K-12 educational settings
- Familiarity with Braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
- Skilled in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both families and multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of current best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities
- Assess students’ visual abilities and instructional needs
- Design and implement accessible instructional strategies
- Teach Braille, use of low vision devices, orientation and mobility basics
- Modify classroom materials and recommend adaptive technology as appropriate
- Collaborate with general education staff to ensure inclusion
- Monitor progress and adjust approaches to maximize student achievement
- Advocate for the needs of visually impaired students within the school community
