Teaching Assistant Professor – General Psychology (Roll No. 261100) Department: Psychology Position Summary The Psychology Department at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications for a 9‑month Fixed‑Term faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. The role is located on‑site in Cullowhee, NC, with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate prior experience with teaching undergraduate courses in psychology. The primary focus is teaching, and we seek a student‑centered, creative, and energetic faculty member committed to an inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in psychology, including General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and other discipline courses. Advise undergraduate students majoring in Psychology. Use Learning Management Systems such as Canvas to integrate technology into instruction. Maintain a teaching load of 4 credits per semester (4/4). Engage in student mentorship and support initiatives. Qualifications Doctoral degree in Psychology or a closely related field, obtained by the date of employment. Demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience in psychology. Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) is helpful. Preferred Qualifications Relevant experience in the candidate’s area of specialization. Student‑centered teaching philosophy and commitment to inclusive education. Application Process Application materials must be submitted online.
