The Polysomnographic Technologist plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders by conducting sleep studies and monitoring patients' physiological data during their sleep cycles. This position requires a deep understanding of sleep medicine and the ability to operate complex diagnostic equipment. The technologist will analyze data collected during sleep studies to provide accurate reports to physicians, aiding in the development of effective treatment plans. Additionally, the role involves educating patients about the procedures and ensuring their comfort throughout the study. Ultimately, the technologist's work contributes significantly to improving patients' quality of life through better sleep health. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an accredited polysomnography program or equivalent training. Graduate from a Polysomnography program, registry in good standing by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist with documented proficiency in all required competencies. Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent. Strong understanding of sleep disorders and related treatment options. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a clinical setting performing polysomnographic studies. Additional certifications in sleep medicine or related fields. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive polysomnographic studies on patients to assess sleep patterns and disorders. Monitor and record physiological data, including brain waves, oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing patterns during sleep. Prepare and calibrate equipment used in sleep studies, ensuring all devices are functioning correctly. Analyze sleep study data and generate detailed reports for physicians to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Educate patients on the sleep study process, addressing any concerns and ensuring their comfort throughout the procedure.
