Technical Engineer Job Description:

PrideStaff is working with a local manufacturing facility who is in search of a Technical Engineer to join their team.  The Technical Engineer will have an understanding of rigid PVC properties, work independently on quality improvements, research and development, new product, and customer services. The ideal Technical Engineer demonstrates excellent knowledge of PVC, has a Bachelors in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and has worked in a similar role with superb time management and organizational skills.  The Technical Engineer is a full-time, direct hire position in Wharton, TX.


Technical Engineer Job Responsibilities: 

  • Perform Random SOC Audit & Report The Nonconformance 
  • Study Abnormalities & Trace The Causes 
  • Develop New Production SOC; Processing Condition Recording Sample Collections 
  • Perform Physical Property Tests & Prepare Reports
  • Work Special Projects, 
  • Perform Machine Capability Study & Fundamental Data Development 
  • Perform Raw Material Inspection; Study & Research 
  • Color Matching, Assisting & or Directing Research & Development 
  • Help With Troubleshooting Production Lines; On-Line Testing, Processing Condition & Sampling
  • Preparation COA’s 
  • Formulation Approval & Revision
  • Perform New Additive Search & Lab Test Including Specifications Development
  • Perform New Additive Formulation Set-up & Cost Estimation
  • Work Special Projects as Assigned


Technical Engineer Job Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Related Field
  • Has Working Knowledge of Laboratory Testing, Equipment For Physical Property Testing of Plastics 
  • Must Have Propensity to Learn Test Methods
  • 6+ Months of on The Job Training 
  • Solid Computer Knowledge 
  • Must be Able to Lift, Bend, Crouch, Crawl, Stand, Walk, Push, Pull, Kneel & Stoop
  • Must be Able to Lift up to 50lbs as Needed & Work in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Must be Able to Work in a Noisy Environment With Variable Temperatures & be Subject to Various Chemicals & Gases 
  • Must Have 10” Radial Arm Saw, Micrometer & Caliper Experience
  • Will Use Vacuum Forming Machine, Surface Roughness Tester, Heat Deflection Detector, Lamination Press, Instron Tensile Tester, Two Roll Mill & More For Testing
  • Will Work Indoors With Loud Noises & Variable Temperatures
  • Work Overtime as Needed to Complete Assignments
  • Superb Problem Solving & Analytical Skills 
  • Excellent Verbal & Written Communication Skills
