Technical Construction Management Adjunct

Position Summary

Ranger Colleges Continuing Education Department seeks an experienced and motivated part-time Construction Management Instructor to teach courses within the Construction Management Program. The instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in residential and light commercial construction drawings, building codes and inspections, and construction management fundamentals. position involves flexible teaching modalities, including online, zoom, and in-person, with some evening sessions required. Position will start this May, 2026.

1. CNBT 1000: Residential and Light Commercial Construction Drawings

Format: Hybrid: (online, face-to-face, and in-person office hours)
Schedule: 12 in-person lab sessions (5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m., one day per week for two weeks) and online as needed
Course Focus: Introduction to residential and light commercial construction drawings, including computerized prints and related software.
End-of-Course Outcomes:
- Identify construction drawing symbols and abbreviations
- Interpret construction drawings and correlate elevations, sections, details, plan views, schedules, and general notes
- Utilize architectural and engineering scales

2. CNBT 1042 Codes and Inspections

Format: Hybrid: (Online and OJT/Field Trips with students at regional businesses)
Course Focus: Building codes, classifications, and inspections; includes field observation opportunities.
End-of-Course Outcomes:
- Identify construction classifications and occupancy categories
- Cross-reference building codes, tables, charts, and specifications
- Assess construction for code compliance

3.CNBT 2042 Construction Management I

Format: Online
Course Focus: Overview of the construction industry and management skills, including communication, leadership, problem-solving, proposal/bid technical writing, change orders, and project closure.
End-of-Course Outcomes:
- Describe organizational structures and roles in construction
- Apply environmental, safety, and sustainable building practices
- Demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effectively interact with contractors and industry professionals

4. OSHT 1005 OSHA Regulations Construction Industry

Format: Online with Zoom as needed.
Course Focus: OSHA regulations specific to construction, including Title 29 C.F.R. Part 1926.
End-of-Course Outcomes:
- Identify applicable OSHA regulations
- Demonstrate proficiency in navigating regulatory standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Instruct students in courses, exceeding all end of course outcomes.

- Deliver engaging instruction online, Zoom, and in-person.

- Develop and implement lectures, demonstrations, field trips, and lab activities aligned with course learning outcomes.

- Evaluate student progress through assignments, quizzes, and hands-on projects.

- Maintain accurate attendance and grades per Ranger College policy.

- Ensure students have access to required software and instructional resources.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in construction management.

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings.

Preferred:

- Bachelors degree or higher in construction management, or a related field.

- Prior teaching or training experience, preferably at the community college level.

Pay: Pay is extremely competitive for a well-qualified instructor.
