They provide a seamless service experience, including an online store with next-day delivery across the UK.Location: LeicesterSalary: c.£40–65k depending on experienceRole DescriptionTechnical ManagerCompany: Tuk In Foods ManufacturingLocation: Multi-site (2 production facilities)Reporting to: Operations Director / Managing DirectorRole PurposeThe Technical Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining all food safety, quality, legality and compliance systems across Tuk In Foods Manufacturing. This role ensures that all products manufactured across both sites meet BRCGS, legal and customer standards while supporting business growth, innovation and continuous improvement.The role spans high care and low care environments and includes oversight of New Product Development (NPD), raw materials, supplier approval, audits, complaints and factory hygiene systems.Key ResponsibilitiesFood Safety & Quality SystemsOwn and maintain the BRCGS Food Safety Management System for both sitesEnsure full compliance with:BRCGSUK Food LawCustomer codes of practiceHACCP & allergen managementLead and maintain the HACCP system, ensuring it remains robust, validated and up to dateManage site risk assessments for high care and low care areas, including zoning, segregation and controlsAudit & ComplianceLead all BRC audits, customer audits and regulatory inspectionsMaintain audit readiness across both sites at all timesManage non-conformances, root cause analysis and corrective actionsEnsure traceability, mass balance and product recall systems are fully tested and effectiveTechnical LeadershipLead and develop the Technical / QA Team across both sitesProvide daily technical support to Production, Engineering and NPDAct as the technical authority for food safety decisionsBuild a strong food safety culture throughout the businessNPD & Product ApprovalOversee technical approval of new products, recipes, ingredients and suppliersEnsure all new products meet:Legal labelling requirementsCustomer specificationsFood safety and allergen controlsLead shelf-life validation and challenge testing where requiredSupplier & Raw Material AssuranceManage supplier approval and monitoringEnsure all raw materials meet Tuk In Foods’ food safety and quality standardsReview supplier audits, specifications and risk ratingsHigh Care & Low Care ControlMaintain robust segregation, hygiene and environmental monitoring programsEnsure correct controls for:Pathogen managementCleaning validationPersonal hygieneZoning & flowLead investigations and corrective actions where issues ariseComplaints, Incidents & Continuous ImprovementLead all customer complaints and quality incidentsCarry out root cause analysis and implement preventive actionsDrive continuous improvement in:Food safetyQuality standardsFactory hygieneDocumentation and reportingKey Performance MeasuresBRC audit results and gradingCustomer complaint levelsAudit non-conformance closureFood safety KPIsRecall and traceability performanceSkills & Experience RequiredEssentialProven experience as a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Leader in food manufacturingStrong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and UK food lawExperience working in high care / high risk food environmentsExperience managing audits and customer standardsConfident leading cross-site technical operationsDesirableExperience with chilled or ready-to-eat foodsNPD technical approval experienceDegree or equivalent in Food Science, Microbiology or related disciplinePersonal AttributesStrong leadership and decision-making skillsCalm under pressure and confident managing riskDetail-focused but commercially awareExcellent communication across all levelsPassionate about food safety and continuous improvement
