Technical Support Specialist Apply
To provide support for the county’s information systems including help desk support, workstation setup, peripheral equipment maintenance, communication and electronic device maintenance, network, software and server support, end user training, and electronic document imaging systems. This is a non-union position. Complete 2026 pay scale is $26.41-$34.55/hr. For a complete position description, click here. This job description indicates the normal type and level of work expected of the incumbent. Incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as apparent or assigned. Provides help desk support for desktop and mobile computer workstations and users to ensure 24/7 operability. Troubleshoot and repair laptop and desktop equipment, network and local printers, scanning systems, telephone and cellular phone equipment, and voicemail. Troubleshoot connectivity issues and contact offsite vendors to solve problems as necessary. Completes new laptop and computer (PCs) setup with appropriate software and networking configuration; install new and upgraded software. Completes computer installation and repair checklists. Provides support for computer inventory database. Provides instruction to County employees on use of equipment and software. Write necessary user-oriented directions to enhance end-user self-sufficiency and understanding of systems. Conducts ergonomic assessments for new employees and ongoing assessments as necessary. Provides assistance with network support, by performing duties including, but not limited to, updating and maintaining the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Inventory Database, performing restoration of network objects, assisting with telephone moves and changes, setting up call directories and hunt groups, troubleshooting AS/400 peripherals and software, contacting off-site support as needed, etc. Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots mobile data systems in the law enforcement patrol units, including mobile computers, GPS, printers, fingerprint readers (IBIS units), Virtual Private Network (VPN) access, air cards, security, configuring criminal justice devices, and other systems. Supports the integration of various tools such as smart phones, voice over internet protocol (VOIP) integration, web meetings, analog telephones, fax services, and email. Assists with the development and implementation of departmental and county-wide technology projects as assigned. Assist manager with configuration and maintenance of the VMWare virtual server system, including, but not limited to, VMWare VSphere updates and VMWare virtual network configuration. Two years of post-secondary education in a computer-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete a criminal history background check.
