Senior Technology Lead

Location: Hybrid (U.S.) | NYC, NY (Preferred) | NJ | CT | TX | Charlotte, NC | Chicago, IL | East Coast / Tri-State
Position Type: Contract / Consulting
Industry: Technology Delivery / Software Engineering / AI & Data / Platform Architecture

Overview:

Our client is seeking a Senior Technology Lead to drive complex, enterprise-scale engineering initiatives, including AI/LLM solution development, large platform builds, and cross-functional technical transformations. This individual will serve as a hands-on engineering leader (60%) and architecture/strategy partner (40%), guiding teams through end-to-end delivery while also operating as a client-facing advisor.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in modern engineering, cloud-native architecture, and emerging AI capabilities-combined with exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage senior stakeholders. Experience supporting large financial organizations, particularly in areas like securitization or capital markets, is a strong advantage.

This is a long-term engagement beginning in January, with an expected duration of at least one year and the potential to extend into a multi-year program based on performance.

Key Responsibilities: Software Engineering Leadership & Architecture
  • Lead the delivery of large-scale, complex software engineering initiatives across distributed systems and modern platforms.

  • Oversee architecture design, engineering strategy, and technical execution for multi-team programs.

  • Provide hands-on development leadership across full-stack environments (front-end, back-end, data).

  • Architect solutions using cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven patterns.

AI/LLM & Emerging Technology Strategy
  • Design and guide implementation of AI, ML, and LLM-based solutions, including PoCs and production architectures.

  • Contribute to evolving AI governance, best practices, and enterprise standards across multiple workstreams.

  • Evaluate new technologies and shape the roadmap through research, prototyping, and design leadership.

Client Engagement & Communication
  • Serve as a primary technical interface with senior business and technology stakeholders.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Support multi-project coordination as the organization expands AI and engineering initiatives over time.

Program Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams, ensuring alignment on architecture, timelines, and delivery quality.

  • Assist adjacent project teams as additional engineering and AI initiatives are onboarded.

  • Mentor senior engineers and foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.

Ideal Candidate Profile: Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience across full stack and distributed architectures.

  • 5+ years leading large engineering teams or programs across complex digital initiatives.

  • Experience delivering solutions in large enterprise environments.

Technical Expertise
  • Deep experience with .NET, C#, APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

  • Strong understanding of event-driven systems, messaging, distributed caching, and system scalability.

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML/LLM architectures, prompt engineering, or enterprise data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with securitization, capital markets, or financial products is a significant plus.

Soft Skills
  • Exceptional communication and client-facing presence; able to lead conversations with senior leadership.

  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to operate across both engineering execution and big-picture architecture.

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
