Job Description

Looking for a Telecom Engineering Project Manager to work within a PMO organization that support projects for our utility customer's private Telecommunications system, and Grid Management Systems. These systems are used to conduct the Company's core business of operating the Electric System and conducting critical business operations. These systems are comprised of Telecommunications infrastructure including inter-location fiber optic cables, telecommunications transport systems (Lightwave and microwave), radio systems, data networking systems, and related components. It also includes computing systems, applications and field SCADA components.

The Telecom Engineering PM will be responsible for managing projects in the following service areas:

• Telecom Engineering Services - Fiber, Copper Cable, Microwave, Lightwave Systems, SONET Nodes, DWDM, MPLS, DC Power System, Channel Banks, Synchronization System, basic knowledge of Data Networking, basic knowledge of Telecom circuit provisioning system
• Wireless Engineering Services - P25 Land Mobile Radio, Landis & Gyr ISM-band unlicensed RF Mesh radio system, Itron RFLAN AMI system, Mica Tech USAT system, iDirect Ku-Band VSAT satellite system, Motorola narrowband aircraft 130MHz radio system

Responsibilities

• Establish scope, schedule, budget for larger internal/external engineering projects
• Develop and manage project charter, schedule, milestone, and key stakeholder assessment.
• Heavily utilizing MS Project as the master planner & scheduling tool, maintain and drive execution of the project plan, update scheduling, manage dependencies, drive project execution across all workstreams.
• Maintain a system of record for all project artifacts for historical and audit purposes.
• Coordinate site Operational Readiness Plan and ensure site readiness.
• Plan, coordinate, lead meetings and associated meeting minutes, action items, risks, etc.
• Support the IT team(s) in the planning and delivery of project deliverables in accordance with standard project management processes and policies.
• Oversee and manage project documentation ensuring documentation is stored in a secure location.
• Develop and manage the project schedule to effectively identify sequence of activities required to successfully complete required tasks.
• Provide weekly status and escalate issue(s) to the Client, Project Sponsor, and project stakeholders.
• Manage the identification, completion and/or resolution tracking of Project/Project risks, action items, issues, and decisions in standard RAID log
• Facilitate and/or prepare status reports for stakeholder meetings, reviews and discussions for the Project. Frequency to be determined, monthly at a minimum.
• Establish the communication channels and reporting to all stakeholders and inform immediately on any issues and risks including the resolution and mitigation for each.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience on managing telecom engineering projects
• 3+ years of experience of project management in the utilities and/or telecom industry
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft Project, capable of creating intricate project plans, managing complex task dependencies, allocating resources effectively, tracking progress meticulously, generating insightful reports, and customizing the application to suit specific project needs, all while ensuring efficient project execution and delivery
• Years of experience managing successful implementation of projects against scope, schedule, and budget.
• Experience with execution of projects/programs with a budget more than $1 million
• Demonstrated experience communicating financial information to various audiences including senior management.
• Demonstrate experience in building reports, analyzing, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity with the ability to derive insights from data collected using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and/or other databases.
• Demonstrated experience with integrating financial performance, budgeting analysis, and budgeting and cost savings valuation.
• Demonstrated experience identifying client needs, gathering relevant information from appropriate stakeholders, and presenting information to management.
• Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and engage in continuous improvement of processes.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's Degree
• PMP, PMI Project Management certification
• Demonstrated experience generating reports utilizing SAP or similar financial systems.
• Demonstrate ability to work in a high performing, ambiguous and agile environment.
• Experience executing projects in both agile and waterfall methodology.
• Experience using Visio Diagraming Tool
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with communicating with other teams via calls, chats, and email
