Position Summary
The Childrens Center is recruiting for three temporary Early Childhood Assistant Teachers for a three month period.

The temporary Early Childhood Assistant Teachers will work cooperatively with the other classroom teachers to support the childcare program.

Minimum Qualifications from Classification
  • A minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education; OR
  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; OR
  • One year of full-time experience in a certified day care center or comparable child care program.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.

  • One full year of continuous teaching experience with infants and toddlers in an early childhood center.

The temporary Early Childhood Assistant Teacher must :
  • maintain continuous enrollment in the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry;
  • be current with Infant-Child First Aid/CPR;
  • have a current Oregon Food Handlers card;
  • be trained in and know the state laws regarding reporting suspected child abuse.

Preferred Qualifications
  • BA or BA in progress in ECE, Child Development, Child, Youth and Family Studies is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with RIE and Reggio-inspired teaching practices.

Work Days/Hours
Monday to Friday between 20 and 40 hours per week, schedule to be determined.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The salary rate for this temporary position will be $15.59. The salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.

This is not a benefits eligible position.
