Terminal Manager

As a terminal manager, you oversee transportation operations for a company. In this role, you may dispatch transit vehicles, direct employees at the terminal itself, and otherwise ensure your transportation network continues to function properly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in the customs brokerage industry.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) that is in good standing.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Customs Tariff, Explanatory Notes, General Rules of Interpretation, regulations, release initiatives, ACROSS/IID systems and ocean release processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Trade Agreements.
  • Experience with all modes of transportation, but ocean expertise is preferred.
  • Experience with exporting would be a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the brokerage cycle, from creating the shipments, following up with customer, to billing the client for the brokerage services.
  • Analyze shipment documentation to ensure it is complete and correct.
  • Provide quality control over product databases, determining correct tariff classification, tariff treatment and ensuring all details are accurate.
  • Answer communications and provide assistance to customers, drivers, Customs and/or other staff.
  • After hours support may be required.
  • Communicate with government agencies to ensure compliance and advise clients on regulations.
  • Keep track and follow-up on dated entries.
  • New account setup and onboarding.

Other Requirements

    • Attention to detail and accuracy is an absolute must.
    • Must be a self-motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high quality work.
    • Works well with people but also can work individually.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Well organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Export experience is an asset.
