Job Summary:

The candidate will play a key role in evaluating medical device performance and generating reports of the results. Candidates will also contribute to the creation of publications for medical journals and conferences. Responsibilities include conducting testing, fixture design, managing lab equipment, and ensuring the collection of high-quality results to support the publications. This position will require the individual to spend approximately 70% of their time in the lab performing hands-on testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute tests and experiments on materials, products, or systems to assess performance per project requirements and research goals.
  • Collect, analyze, and record experimental data.
  • Document test results, observations, and outcomes in a clear and accurate manner following GDP standard.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and publications.
  • Manage and maintain lab equipment and supplies, ensuring that all equipment is calibrated and functioning optimally.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of lab operations and research processes.
  • Occasional work with specific purchased animal tissues (no live animals).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering degree
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably within the medical device industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in reporting findings.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a research-focused environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and report results clearly.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Instrumentation & Sensors (pressure, flow)
    • Data acquisition software (e.g. LabVIEW)
    • Fixture design
    • Data analysis software (e.g. MATLAB, Python)
