This position exists to provide disability-related testing accommodation coordination for Macalester students with approved testing accommodations. Responsibilities include coordinating exams accommodations including but not limited to scheduling and proctoring exams, facilitating testing accommodations, and working with faculty. Collaborates with all areas of the College including staff and faculty training, awareness events/activities that involve the Center for Disability Resources. This position also exists to support the administrative operations of the office including but limited to scheduling rooms for events, monitoring and maintaining the front desk, and monitoring the department's general email.

This is a 0.80 position that works August through end of May. During those months the role is onsite full time Monday-Friday with daily hours of 7:30-4:00pm.

Responsibilities

Testing Coordination:

  • Coordinates, schedules, and proctors exams for students receiving accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; organizes all necessary materials for such testing.
  • Communicate with faculty as it relates to exam information and relevant materials.
  • Ensure security and academic integrity of exam process
  • Stay abreast of best practices for exam proctoring and coordination
  • Utilize AIM Database system to schedule and coordinate exams.
  • Collect data on all testing coordination related activities.
  • Stays abreast of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and other applicable Federal and state laws.

Department Coordination:

  • Answer questions and provide information about campus resources and resources for students.
  • Monitor departments general email account and respond/forward emails as appropriate.
  • Provide overall administrative support for department staff including, but limited to P-Card reconciliation, processing room reservation requests for meetings and events, overall management of front desk area and other projects as needed.
  • Assist staff with scheduling of student meetings.
  • Collaborates frequently with staff and other student services areas of the College.
  • Assist Disability Resources Specialist in supervision of the student workers.

Data, alternative technology and case management systems:

  • Maintains accurate record keeping of case notes, student interactions, and accommodations requests via AIM System, Excel spreadsheets or other electronic interfaces.
  • Attends training related to data management or alternative testing technology.

Organizational meetings, programming and other staff support:

  • Attends Student Affairs Divisional and College meetings
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a higher education setting. Experience with coordinating exams accommodations including but not limited to scheduling and proctoring exams, facilitating testing accommodations, and working with faculty. Experience providing general administrative support, supervising student employees including managing time-sheets, and interacting with department visitors including students and prospective families.
  • Knowledge and experience working with students with disabilities coordinating testing accommodations.
  • Problem-solving through various student issues and/or concerns. Ability to make sound decisions in a stressful or high-pressure environment. Responding to the occasional student crisis under the direction of the Director.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks of varying priority on a regular basis. Strong Organizational Skills. Ability to multitask without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and perform job duties with minimal supervision.
  • Microsoft office suite; Google applications, knowledge of AIM database systems. Working knowledge of assistive technology. Participation in training of these systems required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills required. Timely communications and the ability to represent a department in ways that build strong campus-wide partnerships. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff, faculty, students, alumni, and campus visitors. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and how they relate to student leadership and engagement. Excellent attention to deadlines; dependable and timely.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position will be $22.75 to $23.85, depending on experience.
