Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Thermal Systems Engineer)

Location: Mossville, IL (onsite)

Duration: 12 months contract with possibility to extend

Pay range: $44/hr to $49/hr on W2 (all inclusive)

Position Summary:

The Senior Thermal Systems Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and development of thermal systems for battery modules. This includes performing CAE, maturing current designs, developing new concepts, and supporting technology advancement to ensure robust, efficient thermal performance.

Key Responsibilities

Thermal System & Product Design

• Lead the design and development of battery module thermal systems and associated components.
• Conduct CAE simulations using tools such as FlowEFD, Ansys, or Star‑CCM+.
• Mature ongoing thermal system designs to drawing release and final production.
• Develop new thermal concepts and drive continuous improvements across the product lifecycle.

Project Ownership

• Take extreme ownership of assigned components—from initial concept through design, manufacturing, validation, and production release.
• Ensure high‑quality, reliable designs that meet performance and safety requirements.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Partner daily with the battery module and battery system engineering teams.
• Support new technology development initiatives and integration efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related discipline
• (Master’s degree acceptable with 6+ years relevant experience)
• 8+ years of industry experience in mechanical or thermal system design

Strong background in:

• Battery module/pack thermal design
• Thermal system integration
• CAE tools: FlowEFD, Ansys, Star‑CCM+
• No two‑year degrees accepted
• Internships do not count as part of required experience
• Experience in similar roles such as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Additional Technical Requirements
