Tooling EngineerLocation: Grafton, WIDirect hirePay: 64K- 89K (depending on experience and education)We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Tooling Engineer to lead the development, improvement, and maintenance of tooling in support of our manufacturing processes. This role is critical to both sustaining current production and ensuring smooth launches for new programs.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent experience.2–3+ years of hands-on experience with tooling in a manufacturing environment (die casting preferred).Proficiency in reading technical drawings, interpreting GD&T, and analyzing dimensional data.Strong technical writing skills and a meticulous approach to documentation.Experience with process improvement tools and basic statistical analysis.Responsibilities: Tooling Development & OptimizationPlan and execute tooling improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, tool life, and quality.Analyze tooling wear, failures, and performance trends; implement data-driven corrective actions.Troubleshoot and analyze tooling failures; implement solutions to prevent repeat issues.Collaborate on flow simulations and design reviews to ensure optimal castability and tool maintainability.Manage tooling transfers, track lead times, and maintain tooling readiness for all production needs.Technical Writing & DocumentationCreate and maintain detailed tooling manuals, SOPs, and technical work instructions.Document tooling changes, performance history, and preventive maintenance plans.Interpret CMM reports and incorporate findings into process documentation and corrective actions.Act as the tooling lead for new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes.Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to meet project timelines and technical requirements.Support quality initiatives including PPAP submissions and APQP activities.Key Competencies:Tooling Expertise – Deep understanding of tooling function, wear mechanisms, and integration into manufacturing systems.Problem Solving – Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
