Akkodis is seeking a Contract Tool Design Engineer for a Contract-to-possible-Hire position in Irvine, CA.Hourly Rate: $38.00 to $43.00 per hour. (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)Type: Contract-to-possible-HireLocation: Irvine, CADuration: 6+ monthsThe selected candidate will apply knowledge of engineering principles, theories and industry practices to provide support for documenting equivalent tooling, chemicals, and procedures used to return aircraft components to an airworthy condition. All duties will be performed in a fast-paced and flexible environmentResponsibilities: • In collaboration with other departments, designs tooling fixtures for testing, prototypes and production• Reviews and substantiates currently used tooling for compliance with tool drawings, company standards, and product dimensional requirements.• Confirming Tooling is capable of producing conforming parts by reviewing CMM Reports from Product to the tooling• Recommends tooling improvements and actively shares and implements continuous improvements to tools and tool manufacturing process• Applies lessons learned from tools and fixtures users to new and existing designs.• Prioritize tools and fixtures design to meet project deadlines• Participates in new product development processRequirements:• Must have a strong blend of technical, project, and positive customer relationship building experience.• Requires exceptional analytical skill, ability to follow direction, and complete tasks on time• Proficiency in CAD software required (CATIA, Solidworks or NX)• Aerospace experience is a plus.• Familiarity with test standards and industry standard test protocols (e.g DO-160) a plus. • Prior experience with FAA or other regulated environments is a plus.• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables• Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, interpersonal skills, well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take action to resolve issues• Looking for a hands-on individual with the ability to see the big picture• Ability to work well under pressure, multi task and meet deadlines• The right person will have a wealth of knowledge on tool design and product compliance• Ability to communicate effectively in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal; e.g., the ability to prepare, present and discuss project related plans, requirements, test results, etc. in a team based work environment.• Comprehensive, working knowledge of the office products including: Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and OneNote.• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a complex development environment.• Capable of working independently or as part of a larger team.If you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
