Job Description

SUMMARY:


The Tooling Technician is the tooling expert and is responsible for overseeing and optimizing tooling. This role involves training team members on tooling processes, scheduling and planning tool room activities, leading tooling improvement projects to reduce costs, and serving as a subject matter expert in tooling and process engineering.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Planning and Scheduling. Plan out tool room needs and communicate effectively to all stakeholders the status of work requests.
  • Be the subject matter expert on tooling and provide necessary training to tool makers and other Team Members to elevate client's internal knowledge and achieve production goals.
  • Lead and implement tooling improvement projects in an effort to reduce tooling costs and increase production throughput.
  • Be the lead technical coordinator between client and our external tooling integrator-answering and clarifying any questions they have regarding our processes.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1-3 years of manufacturing experience including programming of CNC machines.
  • Experience with tooling identification, selection, and optimization.
  • Experience using precision measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes, CNC machining, fixture design.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Standing for extended periods of time, walking throughout the facility, ability to lift 50lbs as required.
Additional Information

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor and in an office setting.
  • Potential for alternating rotation of 1st and 2nd shifts.
  • Minimal travel requirements to other McWane facilities and suppliers.
