Tools Engineer - Automation (Pune, India) (Hybrid)
We are seeking a Tools Engineer for a global technology company. In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining internal tooling that supports software development and delivery processes. This role focuses on automation scripting, CI/CD pipeline reliability, security integration, and test infrastructure stability. You will collaborate closely with QA, DevX, and IT teams to improve build systems, testing frameworks, and operational efficiency.
This is a 12-month project (extensions or conversion to FTE possible) 40-hour per week, hybrid role in the client s office in Pune, MH.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain internal tools to automate development, testing, and deployment workflows.
- Create automation scripts to streamline repetitive engineering and operational tasks.
- Build reusable tooling components to support multiple teams and projects.
- Maintain and improve test framework infrastructure reliability and performance.
- Support automated testing environments and ensure consistent test execution across pipelines.
- Diagnose and resolve issues impacting test stability, availability, or performance.
- Maintain and enhance managed infrastructure with a strong security posture.
- Continuously improve infrastructure, tooling, and processes for reliability and efficiency.
- Monitor system performance and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Analyze system metrics and logs to improve reliability and operational excellence.
- Partner with development, QA, and IT teams to align tooling and infrastructure with application needs.
- Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
- Provide guidance and support on DevOps and tooling best practices.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in Tools development, productivity engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles.
- Strong hands-on scripting experience using Python and solid Linux systems knowledge.
- Experience with VMware technologies, including vSphere, ESXi, and related platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or a related field.
