JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Town of Erving, Massachusetts is seeking community minded candidates for the full-time, benefitted position of Town Planner. This position performs routine or semi-routine but detailed or complex administrative duties and supports the day-to-day operation of planning, land use, economic development. This involves coordinating both short- and long-range plans and grant funded activities of the Town. The Town Planner oversees the organization, application, development, implementation, and management of planning and grant funded projects and provides technical support to the Towns land-use boards.

Qualifications Include

The ideal candidate will hold a baccalaureate degree in a discipline related to planning, grant strategies, or business development; with a minimum of three to five (3-5) years as a Town Planner or experience in public sector planning; and must demonstrate a track record of substantive level of responsibility with grant applications, planning projects, and project management; must demonstrate skills in the context of formal organizations, specifically municipal organizations and administration including standard budget monitoring practices. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability to communicate complex information and data analysis to various constituency groups.

Anticipated hiring range is $34.47/hour to $36.57/hour and is commensurate with education and experience. Increases are granted as determined by the Select Board and voted at the Annual Town Meeting in accordance with Classification and Pay Plans/Personnel Policies of the Town. Excellent benefits include vacation leave, sick leave, military leave, 12 paid holidays, 3 paid personal days, dental insurance, vision insurance, and health insurance with a current employer contribution towards the premium of 84%.
