Key Responsibilities-
Traffic Monitoring and Incident Management:

Monitor roadways, detection systems, and traffic devices to detect and respond to incidents, congestion, and travel time imbalances.

Operate computer-based traffic management systems to improve traffic conditions and manage incidents.

Use Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG) to detect, dispatch, monitor, and document roadway incidents.

Coordination and Communication:

Collaborate with partners such as highway patrol, service patrols, local law enforcement, fire rescue, and adjacent Traffic Management Centers (TMCs) to coordinate resources for incidents affecting regional travel.

Dispatch service patrols and assist them with tasks such as phone calls and coordination.

System and Equipment Management:

Maintain advanced knowledge of traffic equipment, computers, and software associated with traffic systems.

Ensure the accuracy and validity of messages displayed on Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and 511 systems.

Monitor all traffic devices and computer equipment associated with the system.

Leadership and Training:

Serve as a shift team leader to ensure smooth and balanced control room operations.

Train new operators and provide guidance to junior operators.

Alert operator staff to new and existing memos and updates.

Documentation and Reporting:

Enter incident information into computer systems using traffic software.

Document incidents, responses, and actions taken.

Weekend Shift (1 employee needed):

Schedule: 8:00 AM 8:30 PM (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday).

Experience:

Senior-level experience in traffic management or a related field.

Proven ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and adhere to established procedures.

Experience operating computer-based traffic management systems.

Technical Knowledge:

Advanced understanding of traffic equipment, software, and systems (e.g., CCTV, DMS, 511).

Familiarity with roadway layouts and the purpose/location of traffic devices (e.g., detector stations, CCTV cameras).

Leadership Skills:

Ability to lead shifts, train new operators, and provide guidance to junior staff.

Strong organizational and decision-making skills.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with partners and documenting incidents.

Continually check the accuracy of messages displayed on DMS and 511 systems.

Stay aware of all 511 messages broadcasted on the system.

Perform other duties as assigned to support traffic management operations.

Initial Contract: 60 days, with the possibility of extension based on performance.
