Position Description:

Full-time, grant-funded, remote & on-site work flexibility. Multi-purpose position with fluency in HVAC, refrigeration, heat pumps, electrical, building management, building automation/controls and information technology to develop and teach courses to include, HVAC, refrigeration, heat pumps, building automation, systems fundamentals, control devices and applications, networking and advanced electrical and systems integration and troubleshooting.

Requires extensive experience with building HVAC, electrical and building controls technology with expertise in a wide variety of technical subjects including hardware and software troubleshooting. Lead curriculum development and instructional design, both in general and in collaboration with external manufacturers, architects, general/mechanical contractors and their specific needs. Teach and facilitate training, provide project management to support the development and delivery of individual courses and programs. Ability to work in a collaborative environment, multitask and often work with aggressive timelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Instruct and deliver Workforce Development (WD) classes in a variety of HVAC and building automation related topics.
  • Work directly and independently with external clients to understand and define their training needs, develop training to address needs, and subsequently deliver customized training.
  • Establish the alignment between workforce to academic through industry-recognized certifications.
  • Align programs with the career communities developed by Academic Affairs as part of the college wide guided pathways initiative
  • Develop and revise training materials that integrate adult learning theory using a variety of delivery methods to include face-to-face, hybrid and on-line.
  • Use solid instructional design methodology, interactive activities, job aids to include competency based evaluations.
  • Lead or participate in projects designed to improve training and learning by establishing standardized, measurable assessments and evaluations.
  • Assist in the design and development of interactive and multimedia instructional programs using the latest technology, including but not limited to software, hardware, web-based applications, social media tools and other emerging technologies.
  • Design and develop hybrid and on-line courses using video editing software
  • Produce narrative videos
  • Document new and existing curriculum processes and system functionalities.
  • Develop, implement and maintain ongoing evaluation strategy, measure effectiveness and efficiency of training programs and monitor their impact.
  • Collaborate with other Instructional Designers, Training Specialists, Trainers, full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, etc. across client groups to ensure the best utilization of resources and best practices.
  • Create and maintain relationships with area manufacturers to promote all WD and JCC programs.
  • Research, review and make recommendations regarding existing or new WD curriculum and programs.
  • Provide instructional support to WD training programs and/or students.
  • Revise, edit and critique existing, public domain or vendor curriculum for traditional, self-paced, or modularized delivery.
  • Provide activity reports and fiscal forecasts as required or requested.
  • Represent WD and the College to the public.
  • Maintain currency and relevancy through professional development.
  • Collaborate with high school guidance counselors and teachers to ensure proper understanding of the college workforce developments, certificate and degree programs in manufacturing
  • Assist in maintenance, safety and security of facilities, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelors degree plus a minimum five (5) years experience with commercial building energy management, facility management, operations and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the job.

Ability to coordinate and develop complex documents and to write and deliver persuasive proposals/presentations. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects in a team setting. Computer application skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent), and spreadsheet applications.

Preferred: Bachelors degree plus a minimum ten (10) years experience in with commercial building energy management, facility management, operations and maintenance.

Experience: 10+ years industry experience. 3 5 years relevant experience in teaching or training or instructional design demonstrating multi-tasking, planning, project management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to specify learning objectives and outcomes, develop and deliver assessments, course materials and learning activities that are aligned with stated objectives and outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated project management experience. Working knowledge of graphic software applications and learning management systems. Experience integrating technology into course curriculum through a variety of delivery methods. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Additional Information:

Salary: $55,000 - $75,000. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
