In this role, you’ll plan, develop, and deliver training programs across the credit union, working closely with teams to understand their needs and design learning solutions that are practical, clear, and effective. You’ll create and maintain a variety of training materials, such as presentations, manuals, workbooks, scripts, and audio-visual resources, to support both new and ongoing learning.
You’ll also review and enhance existing training programs, looking for opportunities to improve, simplify, and strengthen how we learn and work together. By analyzing operational processes and user needs, you’ll help organize and refine standard operating procedures, ensuring clarity, consistency, and efficiency across the credit union.

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and conducting training activities throughout the credit union. Identifies training needs and designs and maintains support materials including audio-visual aids, computer presentations, manuals, workbooks, and scripts. Evaluates and enhances existing training programs and makes recommendations for improvement. This position reviews, analyzes and evaluates business processes and user needs to improve/organize standard operating procedures and to ensure consistency throughout the credit union.
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position requires excellent human relations and the ability to train and assist others. Professionalism and excellent communications skills are vital to the successful execution of this position as well as a thorough understanding of training systems, media, and materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. Develop and implement effective training policies, procedures, and programs.
a. Assists Senior Management in developing short and long-term training plans to meet Credit Union training and development needs.
b. Assists Department Managers with employee development.
c. Research, develop, implement, and deliver training programs for credit union employees that comply with federal regulations and conform to the credit union’s policies and procedures.
d. Develop and maintain continual education support materials that will be used as reference once training has been completed (Standard Operating Procedures).
e. Conduct foundational employee training and other applicable training.
f. Coordinates and conducts core system training (new products and services, modules, updates, etc.…)
g. Develops training modules for non-management positions and maintains a tracking system for all employee training and provide quarterly and year-end reports.
h. Specializes in the internal training of credit union products/services.
i. Assist employees with problems concerning “how to” perform specific tasks related to their position.
j. Make suggestions on improving work procedures.
k. Prepares training and development budget.
l. Stays abreast of current trends and technology in the training field.
m. Responsible for maintaining and keeping the knowledge base system up to date.
2. Effective and efficient completion of Training functions.
a. Ensures that Credit Union personnel are well trained and effective in their respective positions. Ensures that employee orientation, on-the-job training programs, and in-service activities are effective and appropriate.
b. Conduct periodic operation audits to ensure compliance with current policies and procedures.
c. Coordinates, schedules, and directs training activities.
d. Ensures that training functions are completed in accordance with established programs and procedures.
e. Performs and assists with training functions as required.
3. Ensure that professional business relations exist with members, volunteers, vendors, and trade professionals.
a. Represents the Credit Union in contacts with consultants and trade professionals.
b. Conducts every aspect of this position, involving interpersonal relations, in line with the concept that all personnel, staff, shareholders and visitors are afforded full and equal treatment in all matters without regard to race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, lawful political affiliation, physical handicap or marital status.
c. Ensures that requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved. Ensures that communications are efficient and effective.
d. Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
e. Periodically serves on various credit union committees (i.e. Safety, Social Events, etc.)
4. Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with Management.
a. Assists and informs departments and branches as needed.
b. Keeps Senior Management informed of training activities and of any significant problems.
c. Completes required reports, records, and other documentation.
d. Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
5. Related duties as required or assigned.
a. Writes and prepares training articles.
b. Stays current on training programs and procedures.
c. Pursues a program of:
i. Self-development.
ii. Utilizing such training and education as may be required by the credit union:
• in connection with this position;
• for career development.
d. Ensures that work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained.
e. Assumes other duties as assigned.
MAJOR CHALLENGES
1. Identifying Credit Union training needs.
2. Developing a Training Program and creating Standard Procedures ensuring consistency throughout the Credit Union.
3. Ensuring that employees are able to meet both the technical and interpersonal demands of their respective positions.
4. Ensuring that the library of Training Resources is well developed and maintained.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
1. Training goals are established and executed to effectively meet the needs of personnel at all levels of the Credit Union. Staff is knowledgeable and competent in respective job functions. Training needs are effectively identified.
2. Training resources are well-developed, functional, and easily accessible.
3. Training activities are well-coordinated and scheduled with individual departments. Support is provided as required.
4. Training procedures are regularly reviewed and modified as needed. New training systems and resources are developed and implemented as needed.
5. Professional business relations exist with members and external trade contacts.
6. Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in organizational communication or organizational development.
Required Knowledge: Ability to learn and apply learned skills
Understanding of job functions and operations at all levels of the Credit Union.
Thorough knowledge of teller and member service operations
Knowledge of training systems and resources.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs required.
Experience Required: At least one year experience as a senior teller or equivalent
Training experience preferred.
Loan experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Ability to plan, develop, and implement training programs.
Well organized.
Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing with members, peer, and managers
Ability to effectively present information orally and in writing to top management, small groups, and employees.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. May lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)
LOCATION: Able to travel to any branch as needed.
