Job Summary:

This position reports to the Training Manager within the scope of the mission, guiding principles, values, ethics and strategic goals of Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. This position assists with training initiatives that support the business and strategic needs of Goodwill Industries of NE Iowa. The Training Specialist provides excellent service to both internal and external customers by way of communication and assistance and by way of quality of work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

(Essential functions of the position are listed in bold print.)

  • Delivers retail staff training in alignment with the organization’s guiding principles.
  • Models best practices in retail and training settings.
  • Facilitates internal staff development trainings.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of trainings through data collection and analysis.
  • Communicates and collaborates across multiple departments.
  • Delivers training curriculum through a blend of in-person, virtual, and hybrid settings.
  • Creates and/or maintains an excellent perception of the Goodwill brand with all team members and members of the community.
  • Assists the Training Manager with projects as assigned.
  • Completes all duties of the job and all work requirements.
  • Models Goodwill’s core values, IMPACT. (Inspire Others, Mission First, People Matter, Align with Community, Create Opportunity, Tell our Stories)

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree from an accredited college in Business, Human Resources, or related field; 2 years of full-time paid employment in human resources, business, or related field may be substituted for each year of post-secondary education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time paid experience in training, retail, or related field.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Possess a positive attitude and infect others with similar enthusiasm
  • Loyalty to the agency and its mission and policies.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations including some evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to use good judgment, discretion, and initiative.
