GENERAL FUNCTION
This position manages the maintenance of facility and process equipment to meet the needs of internal customers. This role is responsible for developing and executing the preventive maintenance program for facility, production & R&D equipment. This role is also expected to address any breakdowns in a skilled and timely manner, ensure the building is clean and secure, participate in disaster recovery preparedness, support new equipment designs and installations, manage spare parts inventory, monitor energy and water consumption, manage projects aimed at improving equipment reliability and efficiency, and serve as the key contact for and manage relationships with external electrical, mechanical and janitorial contractors.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute a preventive maintenance program for major equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns in a skilled and timely manner
  • Manage external electrical and mechanical contractors
  • Manage janitorial contractors, spare parts inventory and equipment-related improvement projects
  • Support new equipment installations
  • Document maintenance activities
  • Provide technical support for Operations, Engineering and R&D activities
  • Model safe working practices and immediately act to address unsafe conditions or practices
  • Plan and clearly communicate on facility and maintenance activities
  • Perform safety/housekeeping activities/audits and drive Good Manufacturing Practice compliance
  • Occasional support on off-shifts, holidays or weekends as required by business needs
  • Functional support as needed to meet business needs and objectives
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment within facility, maintenance, or engineering roles
  • Technical understanding of and familiarity with electro-mechanical systems and typical manufacturing facility equipment (air compressors, water filtration, HVAC systems, process exhaust systems, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and contractors. Collaborative work style, strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to manage complexity, plan and organize, influence decisions and actions, and a willingness to take responsibility
  • Familiarity with safety risk assessment methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and projects
  • Proficient with MS Office software
  • Ability to work around various chemicals, able to lift 10 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. infrequently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance topics (air emissions permitting, wastewater, hazardous waste, OSHA)
  • Machine safety expertise
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
