Description of Work Unit
The Translational Medicine Institute (TMI) is operated under the Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University (CSU). The Institute provides a safe, secure, state of art facility for university investigators, government scientists and industry representatives to collaboratively research translational medicine with a focus on biologics such as stem cells. The TMI program is a new program housed in a 130,000 square foot building (C Wayne McIlwraith Translational Medicine Institute). This facility has capabilities to engage in experimental surgical procedures, minimally invasive teaching hands on learning, didactic lectures up to 300 people as well as complete wet laboratory facilities including cGMP space, food service, and administrative space for entrepreneurial development.

The purpose of Central Services is to provide state-of-the-art cleaning, sterilization, storage and delivery of all surgical and medical supplies, instruments, and equipment used for the treatment and care of animals at the TMI and VHS.

Position Summary
The Central Services Manager is a full-time position within the Translational Medicine Institute (TMI) within the Clinical Sciences Department of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for providing state-of-the-art cleaning, sterilization, storage, and delivery of all surgical and medical supplies, instruments, and equipment used for research and continuing education needs at the TMI. This position is responsible for determining and maintaining inventory of medical, surgical, and TMI building supplies. This position is responsible for maintaining and caring for all equipment in Central Services including laundry and autoclaves.
This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, be customer-centric, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

A combination of signing bonus and relocation expenses may be considered for successful candidates.

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license by the employment start date.

Ensures SOPs improve overall function of the Central Storage, increase efficiency, and improve communication within the work units. Maintains SOPs for all aspects of the job to ensure policies can be implemented by other Central Services personnel. Ensures SOPs are posted on the secure file share to serve as document of record.
  • Directly supervises a part-time employee and up to 5 student hourlies responsible for a broad range of tasks. Management of staff includes defining roles and responsibilities, training and coaching staff, conducting annual evaluations, addressing performance and personnel issues, and managing timesheets and termination.
  • Point of contact to help resolve equipment, inventory, alarms, and unexpected issues for the TMI.
  • Maintains continuity among the departments by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Informs Associate Director of potential problems and/or recommending steps to avert and/or solve.
