By joining our Equipment Section as a Transportation Auto/Truck Technician I, youll perform general repairs and maintenance of automotive/truck vehicles and equipment in Owen County and perform other jobs as assigned.
Holders of this Job Title will complete tasks such as:

By joining our Equipment Section as a Transportation Auto/Truck Technician I, youll perform general repairs and maintenance of automotive/truck vehicles and equipment in Owen County and perform other jobs as assigned.
Holders of this Job Title will complete tasks such as:
- Checking and changing oil and hydraulic fluids/lubricants, filters, belt repairing, adjusting or replacing batteries, performing tune-ups, replacing and adjusting head and taillights, changing, repairing and rotating tires, checking tire air pressure.
- Search out electrical problems.
- Maintain equipment during snow and ice operations.
- Computer monitoring of equipment.
- Mechanic skills.
- Computer skills in completing repair and service reports.
- ASE certifications.
- Learns to perform more complex duties by assisting higher-level technicians in functions such as disassembling, repairing and assembling engines, transmissions.
- CDL or ability to obtain.
- Experience operating equipment.
- Understanding importance of safety and willingness to promote safe work environment.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational or technical school training in automotive/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Employees in this job classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority within six months of employment in the job classification, documentation that he or she possesses a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification (s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform work in a repair facility or field setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
