Transportation (Roadway Design) Engineer Apply
ATCS is seeking a highly motivated, multi-faceted Roadway Design Engineer to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days per week required onsite in the Raleigh office and up to 2 days working remotely. This position will perform a variety of tasks at the direction of a project manager, project engineer, or other senior staff related to transportation design for public agencies (NCDOT, Municipal DOTs, etc.). The diversity of responsibilities and actual tasks require a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented, can-do attitude to support our project teams, the design department, and ATCS.
Job Responsibilities:
- Planning and design of transportation-related facilities
- Familiarity of the NCDOT Roadway Design Manual and AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design
- Supporting Senior Staff in a variety of tasks in the field of transportation design
- Designing horizontal and vertical roadway geometry
- Preparing various stages of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Drafting technical reports
- Assistance in developing drainage and utility designs
- Conducting field visits during design or construction
- Participating in client and public meetings
Required Skills:
- A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 5+ years' experience in the field of transportation engineering
- EIT required; NC PE preferred. If the PE license is not in NC, must have the ability to get reciprocity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and able to thrive in a busy environment with multiple assignments
- The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrate experience with MicroStation V8i, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenRoads, ConceptStation.
