WisDOT is currently seeking to fill a Transportation Specialist Advanced (project development specialist position) within the Division of Transportation System Development, Southwest Region. This position will be located in either our Madison WI office.

This position functions as an advanced level Transportation Specialist within the Project Development section of a transportation region performing a variety of duties on transportation improvement projects in both the construction and design phases.

This position is a member of a projects team, performing as a construction and/or design leader directing projects. This position may also assist the project manager by advising and coaching team members. While assigned to the construction phase of a project, the duties will be approximately 60%-90% construction activities and 10% - 40% design activities. Likewise, when assigned to the design phase of a project, duties will be approximately 60% - 90% design activities and 10% - 40% construction activities. The project leader roles may necessitate frequent travel on an independent basis to project sites within the Region to conduct project field reviews, meet with property owners, or meet with local municipalities.

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $64,480-$85,280, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check which may include FBI fingerprinting.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit.
