These positions work within the Systems Planning unit of the Southeast Region. The positions participate in the scoping and review of improvement projects representing the planning perspective of access management and traffic engineering principles and standards. These positions also provide technical input and support to project managers and design engineers in the project development section. Both positions need to have an understanding of statutes, rules, regulations, administrative codes and standards required in the program area.

The positions are also involved in tasks relating to the development and management of the state highway system, such as access control projects (SS 84.25) and corridor preservation projects (SS 84.295); functional and jurisdictional studies and reviewing land developments and private property access inquiries that impact the highway system.

Additional responsibilities of one of the positions includes review of subdivision plats in accordance with Chapter Trans 233 to insure implementation of access management principles, and evaluation of proposed public road discontinuations. This requires, on a regular basis, reading and math comprehension and technical writing skills; working with various local officials, developers and engineering consultants; and reviewing site plans, subdivision and right of way plats.

These positions are in schedule-range 14-14 with an annual salary of $60,320-$72,800, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
