Pay Rate: $75 per hour + Travel Stipends
Schedule: Regular work hours are Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/week); OT not to exceed 2 hours daily.
Contract Length: 1 year

Job Description:
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) provides comprehensive outpatient healthcare services within the Pinon Health Center, including the Outpatient Department, Urgent Care, and Teen Clinic. The practitioner may also provide clinical services at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility and other Navajo IHS facilities as needed. The role includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients across the lifespan in accordance with IHS standards, clinical guidelines, and scope-of-practice requirements.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

  • Minimum 6 months of NP experience in the specialty required.

  • No lapse in clinical service greater than 6 consecutive months within the six months before the start of duty.

  • Fully valid, active, unrestricted NP license in Family Practice and/or Acute Care.

  • Board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) appropriate to specialty

  • Current, unrestricted DEA license with schedules II V.

  • Current CPR and BLS certification

  • Current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.

  • Additional certifications and documents can be required through the application process.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary and urgent care services for patients of all ages in outpatient and urgent care settings

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic health conditions within NP scope of practice

  • Perform comprehensive health evaluations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans

  • Prescribe medications in accordance with DEA licensure and facility policy

  • Provide care in off-site locations such as school-based clinics and community health events when assigned

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to support patient care

  • Document all assessments, treatments, and patient encounters in the electronic health record

  • Maintain compliance with IHS clinical standards, infection control, and safety requirements

  • Participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory training as required
