Job Overview: A Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) provides essential healthcare services to patients under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating. Help patients with mobility, including turning, positioning, and transferring between beds and wheelchairs.
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Measure and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates. Report any changes in patients' conditions to the supervising nurse.
  • Medical Support: Assist with basic medical procedures and treatments as directed by RNs and LPNs. Ensure proper administration of medications, wound care, and other prescribed treatments.
  • Patient Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients. Ensure that patients' rooms are kept clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient care activities and observations in the medical records. Ensure all records are up-to-date and comply with healthcare regulations and policies.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members. Provide emotional support and ensure patients' comfort and dignity at all times.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations, following established protocols and procedures to ensure patients' safety and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be a licensed nursing assistant (LNA) with active certification in Vermont (VT) and/or New Hampshire (NH).
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team. Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and assisting patients. Stamina to work long hours and handle the physical demands of the job.

Work Environment:

  • Setting: LNAs work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences.
  • Schedule: Full-time and part-time positions are available. Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
