Job Details:

• Work day shift Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
\n• Full-time position
\n• Perform all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling
\n• Test patient specimens, calculate and report results
\n• Perform quality control procedures and operate laboratory instrumentation
\n• Cross-train to other laboratory sections as needed
\n• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and make minor repairs
\n• Utilize Laboratory Information System for data entry and verification
\n• Process patient specimens with attention to minimal pediatric specimen volumes when required
\n• Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values
\n• May perform phlebotomy and other patient-oriented tasks
\n• Participate in evaluation, development, and implementation of new testing procedures
\n• Must possess certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS
\n• Louisiana state license required
\n• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology required
\n• No experience required for graduates of approved clinical laboratory training programs
\n• Alternative: one year of approved clinical laboratory experience including rotations through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids
