Pay Rate: $55 $60 per hour + Travel Stipends
Schedule: TBD

  • Outpatient Hours: Monday Friday: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM

  • Emergency Room: 24 hours/7 days a week
    Contract Length: 6 months, with the option to extend for 4 more periods.

Period of performance: TBD 2026

Benefits: $5.09/hr for Health and Welfare, PTO (5 days at 6 months, 5 more at year), sick leave accrued 56 hours per year, holiday pay.

Job Description:
The Inpatient Pediatrics Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients within the inpatient unit at Northern Navajo Medical Center. The RN supports the care of infants, children, and adolescents with acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring safe, professional, and culturally appropriate care in accordance with IHS policies and professional nursing standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in the required specialty.

  • Current, valid, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Newborn Life Support (NLS), Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ATCN) or Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Additional certifications and documents can be required through the application process.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver age-appropriate inpatient nursing care to pediatric patients with diverse medical needs

  • Perform assessments, administer medications, and implement provider-ordered treatment plans

  • Respond to emergent pediatric situations and provide stabilization within unit capabilities

  • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation in the medical record

  • Coordinate with physicians, interdisciplinary staff, and families to support patient care and discharge planning

  • Adhere to infection control standards, patient safety policies, and quality assurance requirements

  • Monitor patient status, report changes, and escalate concerns appropriately

  • Maintain current certifications and participate in required in-service training
