Job description:

Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Unit: RRT
Shift: Nights, 3x12-Hour
Duration: 13 weeks
Location: Billings, MT 59101

 

Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist RRT provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients designed to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system within the prescription of the ordering physician. This position acts as a resource to the CRT staff. The RRT may be responsible for special clinical projects or assignments as designated by leadership according to the needs of the department.
 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol
  • Obtains arterial blood gases and oversees equipment operation for optimal patient care
  • Initiates respiratory protocols and interventions based on patient assessment
  • Administers medications safely and evaluates patient response
  • Communicates patient progress with physicians, nurses, and care teams
  • Maintains awareness of patient condition and makes care recommendations
  • Educates patients and families on respiratory care and self-care techniques
  • Completes accurate documentation and monitors productivity standards
  • Manages supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or issues
  • Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Identifies safety hazards and contributes to process improvements

 

Minimum 1 year of experience

  • Respiratory protocol initiation
  • Respiratory care
  • Arterial gas analysis

Additional Skills:

  • Medication administration
  • Patient progress evaluation
  • Patient condition awareness
  • Communication with physicians and nurses

Education:

Required Education:

  • Graduate of AMA-approved program for Respiratory Therapy

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Current state license for Respiratory Therapy
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Health Care Provider Life Support (BLS)
  • ACLS required

Job Type: Contract

Experience:

  • Respiratory therapy: 1 year (Required)
