Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatric

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Facility: OU Health – The Children’s Hospital
Contract Duration: 26 weeks
Schedule: Nights | 4x12-hour shifts | 48 hours/week

Position Overview

OU Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a focus on pediatric care to join their Respiratory Care team. This role involves delivering high-quality respiratory therapy services across a children’s hospital setting, supporting critical care, emergency response, and specialized pediatric patient populations.

This is an excellent opportunity for clinicians who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about delivering age-appropriate, patient-centered respiratory care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic testing and monitoring
  • Accurately document patient care, treatments, and responses in EMR systems
  • Provide age-appropriate care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients
  • Respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies as part of the rapid response team
  • Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment
  • Act as a clinical resource for physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards
Clinical Scope
  • Pediatric and neonatal respiratory care
  • Critical care and high-acuity patient management
  • Emergency response and code team participation
  • Pulmonary and cardiac system monitoring
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in Oklahoma
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of respiratory care experience, preferably in critical care
  • Prior experience in a children’s-only hospital setting
  • Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in respiratory therapy procedures and equipment
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and adjust treatment plans
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in high-acuity environments
  • Basic computer and EMR documentation skills
