Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Details\n
    \n
  • Work in the SICU of a 431-bed short-term acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
  • \n
  • Patient population includes trauma, cardiovascular surgery (TAVRs, CABGs direct from OR), neurosurgery, and other complex surgical cases
  • \n
  • Common diagnoses include acute ventilator need, severe sepsis, DKA, unstable GI bleed, open heart and TAVR recovery, multi-system organ failure, and patients requiring CRRT
  • \n
  • Patient ratios of 1:2–3, adjusted to skill level and acuity during float assignments
  • \n
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • \n
  • No on-call requirements
  • \n
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • \n
  • Charting performed in Epic
  • \n
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active Virginia (VA) or compact RN license required
  • \n
  • Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU or SICU nursing experience required
  • \n
  • Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
  • \n
  • Experience with arterial line management and blood product administration required
  • \n
  • Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing high-acuity surgical cases required
  • \n
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • \n
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
  • \n
Additional Information\n

  • Provide high-acuity nursing care to complex surgical and trauma patients in a specialized ICU environment
  • \n
  • Responsibilities include management of arterial lines, ventilators, CRRT, and blood products
  • \n
