Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This travel position involves working as a Special Education Teacher at a juvenile detention center located in York, PA. This lockdown facility provides an important educational service to students requiring special education support while also ensuring a safe and structured environment.

Work Schedule and Location:

  • Location: Juvenile detention center in York, PA
  • Hours: Approximately 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM, with minor variations possible
  • One-hour unpaid lunch break (timing flexible)
  • Assignment duration: ASAP until May 29, 2026
  • Three days per week, a Physical Education teacher supports student activities

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver special education instruction aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Assist students in focused online learning environments, maintaining engagement and progress
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs within a secured facility
  • Maintain professionalism by adhering to facility policies, including restrictions on cell phone use during work hours

Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education
  • Experience working with special education students, preferably in challenging or secured settings
  • Ability to stay focused and manage student online learning effectively
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and collaborate as needed
