Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide specialized nursing care on a busy Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) focusing on cardiac telemetry, vascular, and med-surg patient populations. This travel position in Elyria, OH, offers an opportunity to apply your skills in managing complex patients including post-catheterization and post-pacemaker cases. The role involves delivering high-quality patient-centered care within a dynamic environment that balances acuity and patient ratios.
Position Highlights:
- 13-week travel assignment (local candidates not accepted)
- 12-hour evening shifts with a rotating schedule including every other weekend (EOW), every other holiday (EOH)
- Unit size: 33 beds; typical nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4-5 (day) to 1:5-6 (night), contingent on census and acuity
- Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, vascular patients, med-surg, some post cath and pacemaker patients
- Manage lines/drains such as PICC, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, chest tubes, NG tubes; airway modalities include trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow (no ventilator care)
- Administer drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Heparin, Insulin, among others
- Navy blue scrubs required; telemetry strip verification done once per shift in EPIC
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Minimum 2 years RN experience required, with 1 year in acute care recommended
- Current RN license in compact state or Ohio
- BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke certification required prior to patient care
- Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide provided)
- Travel nursing experience not necessary
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing assessments and develop evidence-based care plans
- Safely administer medications and manage advanced cardiac drips
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and provide patient and family education
- Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Manage complex patients with multisystem organ failure or trauma effectively
