Location: Boonton, NJ
Shift: 12-hour Night Shift
Schedule: 3 shifts per week
Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift Time: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM

Position Summary

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with psychiatric and behavioral health needs. This role requires a minimum of two (2) years of recent psychiatric nursing experience and emphasizes collaborative, team-based care. The RN works closely with physicians, social workers, and the interdisciplinary care team to support treatment planning, patient safety, and discharge coordination.

Required Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience

  • Experience working in team nursing models

  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, therapeutic, and evidence-based nursing care to psychiatric patients

  • Participate in team nursing and interdisciplinary team meetings with physicians

  • Collaborate closely with social workers for discharge planning and coordination

  • Accurately document assessments, care plans, and interventions in EPIC

  • Administer medications utilizing Omnicell medication dispensing system

  • Monitor patient behavior, mental status, and response to treatment

  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members

Systems & Technology
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC

  • Medication System: Omnicell

Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong psychiatric assessment and crisis intervention skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Ability to work independently during night shifts

  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment modalities

  • Commitment to patient-centered and trauma-informed care
